More than 100 students of Beqa Yanuca Secondary School on Beqa Island will soon have access to a new classroom and two dormitories.
Students attending the new secondary school which is located in Raviravi village are from the nine villages on Beqa.
School Manager Serupepeli Ratuvukivuki said the parents can now save money as they do not have to send their children to Viti Levu to attend a secondary school.
He said they are consulting neighboring islands Yanuca and Vatulele for the children to also attend the school.
He hopes the school will soon have form seven as they only have forms three to six.
The cost of the project is $400,000 which also includes a water reservoir which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
A media tour was held on the island led by the Commissioner Central Lt Col Laisenia Tuitubou.
