Traders selling banned fireworks to get spot fines
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is in the process of taking action against traders who have been found selling banned fireworks in Fiji.

Permanent Secretary Shaheen Ali said the Ministry with the Mineral Resources Department has been undertaking inspections of retail outlets around the country and during the inspections a number of banned fireworks have been seized.
 
He added that any trader found in possession of the banned fireworks will be fined $2000 on the spot and will also be liable for prosecution.  

Firecrackers can only be used from 5pm to midnight today.
