Student charged with general dishonesty
The Dean of the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies of Fiji National University, Dr Mahendra Reddy took the witness stand in the Suva magistrate yesterday.

This is in relation to a case where a former FNU student was allegedly awarded a gold medal at the FNU’s graduation in 2010 however his marks were below the grade to qualify him for a gold medal award.

Joseph Rao charged with general dishonesty appeared before Magistrate Yohan Liyange.

Dr Reddy told the court when cross examined by defence counsel, John Rabuku, it came as a surprise to him that Rao received the gold medal, however he did not nominate his name and he did not sign the nomination form.

The case will continue tomorrow.
