Tribunal rules USP staff entitled to pay rise
The Employment Tribunal has ruled that on an interpretation of the Collective Agreement between the University of the South Pacific and the USP Staff Union, USP staff are automatically entitled to a pay rise.

The Chief Tribunal has ordered that the USP and USP Staff Union need to resume negotiations on the level of pay rise.

The order further stated that there was no discrimination by the University of the South Pacific.

The Tribunal orders the parties to conclude negotiations within three months.

Prior to the commencement of the negotiations, the parties are to submit to the Tribunal a completed Bargaining Process Arrangement.

Union Executive Secretary Litiana Waqalevu said the parties are to commence negotiations starting from the 8.2% salary increase from 2009.
