The Acting Principal of Waiqele Secondary School has been allowed back into the school this afternoon after management met with officials from Education ministry and police this morning.
Management president, Durga Prasad confirmed that they had given seven days to the ministry to resolve this matter. Until then Uma Kanti Karan will remain as school's acting principal.
Meanwhile, when contacted this afternoon Uma Kanti referred all questions to the Education Ministry.
Prasad claims that Uma Kanti Karan had been telling the Fijian Community in the area, that the school management is only allowing Indians to be members of the management.
Although Prasad admitted to FijiVillage that their school constitution had stated that only Bhartiyas or Indians should be part of the school management as it is an Indian School, he said they had made changes to the constitution last year.
When asked why such a section of the constitution existed until last year, Prasad said previous management had implemented the system.
He stressed that unless they were given written assurance by the Education Ministry that the acting Principal would be replaced they would not change their stance.
