Encouraging and supporting Fiji’s return to parliamentary democracy is part of the consultations to be carried out, as the Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Contact Group meeting gets underway today in Suva.
This is aligned with the Forum Leaders’ decisions and commitment to remain engaged with Fiji.
The Ministerial Contact Group is chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, Murray McCully and members of the group include ministers from Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Samoa, Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The Contact Group will meet with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum this morning.
