Parents called on to be patient

Parents called on to be patient
This is the call from Education Minister Filipe Bole to parents and students of the Seaqaqa area in Macuata, Vanua Levu over the delay in the issuance of bus fare coupons.

Many students in these areas travel by carriers and minivans.

Bole said the Ministry needs to have all these transport carriers in the rural areas licensed to legalize their operations.

He said this means transport operator carriers must have their vehicles approved first with a rural service licence before they can be considered to transport students to schools.

Only the Land and Transport Authority (LTA) has the authority to give that licence.

Furthermore school principals and head teachers in the Seaqaqa area and other parts of the country whose parents and children face similar situations are being asked to personally approach owners of transport carriers to visit their nearest LTA offices and get their Rural Service Licences.
