Fish production in Fiji is down by 90 percent and stakeholders are now working together to implement new policies to entice foreign vessels to off load their catch in Fiji.
Fiji Fish General Manager Graham Southwick said the domestic fishing industry is still struggling as they are unable to compete with the foreign vessels.
Permanent Secretary for Fisheries Commander Villiame Naupoto told Fijivillage news that the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has given a directive to make immediate policy changes and they are now giving out license to foreign vessels to off load their haul in Fiji.
