Case transferred to Suva High Court

One of the case involving former Post Fiji Executives Peni Mau, Mahendra Patel and Direndra Prasad has been transferred to the Suva High Court.

The case was set for hearing, however, FICAC made an application for the case to be transferred to the High Court, which could the defense counsels by surprise.

Defence counsel raised concerns that their clients were charged in February 2008 and the case should have been transferred earlier.

The case involves an alleged gratuity and pension payment for Peni Mau, who was former CEO of Post Fiji, off $122,000 where it is alleged that the payment was made without proper approval from the Board.

Meanwhile, the case involving former Chairman Mahendra Patel and Mau on the installation of a $75,000 external clock at the Post Fiji headquarters has been set for trial on the 20th and 21st of April.

It is alleged that Mau authorized the purchase of the external clock from Prouds, a company owned by Patel after they failed to allegedly declare Patel's interest and relationship with the company.
