Baulevu resident Vilikesa Rinavuaka appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court today charged with manslaughter after the death of a two-year-old girl in Baulevu on June 30th.
The case was heard before Magistrate Mosese Naivalu and it has been transferred to the High Court for the 27th of this month.
No plea was taken by Rinavuaka and he has been granted bail with two sureties on a $5,000 bond and conditions which include his passport to be surrendered within 24 hours, he has to present himself daily to the Nausori Police Station between 7am to 6pm, and a curfew to stay home from 7pm to 6am.
According to the police report, the vehicle the girl was in went off the road in Baulevu and the two-year-old girl was trapped inside.
Attempts by NFA, police and ambulance to rescue the two-year-old proved futile and she died at the scene.
