Indigenous Fijians participation in business and commerce needs to improve as they continue to lag behind.
These are the sentiments of National People's Charter Advisory Council chairman Josefa Serulagilagi who told the council yesterday that policies by certain ministries will be a great help to indigenous Fijians.
Serulagilagi also said there are still ministries and public institutions existing along racial lines, as there is low representation of Fijian-Indians in senior civil service positions and heads of missions overseas.
He said scholarships should not be given on racial lines and only one category of scholarships should be given as stated in the People’s Charter.
There are three subcommittees of the council including Social, Finance and Good Governance who will meet next week.
