A former employee of Fiji Sugar Corporation is calling for assistance as their water supply has been disconnected just days before Diwali though they were promised by FSC that they will get water supply all their lives for their long years of service for Fiji's sugar industry and the company.
The elderly man of Rarawai Ba who lives with his wife is concerned that he worked for FSC for about forty years and now in this old age he has to fetch water from elsewhere.
He claims that water supply for Indian families only have been disconnected without any discussions.
Fiji Sugar Corporation Chairman Abdul Khan said as part of their cost cutting measure they had to take this action.
However, when this issue was raised Khan instructed water supply to be reconnected for the affected families today.
He said further discussions will be held later.
At this stage, Khan is denying allegations that only Indian families faced disconnections.
The concerned resident confirmed that water is yet to be connected.
