Funded Water Programs Underway
Major programs funded by the Asia Development Bank and the Fiji government is currently underway in the Western and Northern Divisions.

Works Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said this is a long term sustainable program which will ensure the changing of old water pipelines.

Waqainabete added they aim to complete these works in the next two to five years to end the water problems faced by people once and for all.

She also said the old pipes cannot cater for the water demand due to the increase in population and thus new pipes are needed.

Meanwhile, some residents of Nadi have raised concerns as they have not been receiving normal water supply for the last few weeks.

Shabnam Bibi of Navo Nadi said they doing their household chores by collecting rain water.

Meanwhile, senior officials from the Nadi water supply confirm that low water level at Lolobalavu reservoir has caused this problem and they are trying to find out how this happened. They believe the problem will be fixed this week.

More water trucks are being arranged today to cart water in the affected areas.
