A class one student discovered the body of her 1 year 7 month old sister floating in a bucket of water yesterday evening.
The student found her younger sibling in the bucket after she and her mother had searched for her after noticing she was missing.
All attempts to revive the child were futile and she was pronounced dead on arrival at the Lautoka Hospital.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted soon while investigations continue into the incident.
The drowning toll now stands at 57 compared to 30 for the same period last year.
