$230m Hydro Power Scheme Signed
Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, along with delegates from the Chinese Embassy as well as FEA signed a new $230 million FJD Hydro power scheme with a Chinese Construction Company.

Speaking to Fijivillage news, Commodore Frank Bainimarama revealed that the Nadarivatu Hydropower Project will see not only a saving of $44 million in diesel costs for the FEA but will bring local employment and also showed the confidence placed on the economy by China.

The Chinese Development Bank funded project is expected to finish by the year 2011 and Chairman for the Authority, Nizam Ud Dean said that the Nadarivatu Hydropower Project will have a capacity of 41.7 megawatts.

A hundred and one million units of energy is expected to be generated for Viti Levu and this power plant will be operated from Vuda.
