Two house fires in the past 24hrs
Two separate house fires have left people homeless in the Northern Division in the last 24 hours.

A 37-year-old waitress lost all her belongings at Wasavulu village after a fire burnt down her corrugated iron and timber home at around 2am.

Police estimate the cost of damages at $8000.

In another fire, a 62-year-old farmer lost everything at Malawai Dreketi after a fire destroyed his corrugated iron and timber house with damages estimated at $15,000.

In both house-fires police have not ruled out arson.

Meanwhile, according to National Fire Authority, majority of fires so far this year were caused by electrical related problems such as faulty electrical wiring, defective electrical appliances and property.
