New remand center to be complete next month

The $11.6 million new remand center at Devo in Walu Bay is now expected to be completed by mid February.

The new center which is expected to house 200 inmates was expected to complete this month however according to Fiji Corrections Center spokesperson Ana Tudrau, weather conditions and low cement supply have affected the construction.

She said that they are still receiving less than 50 percent of the cement required for the construction but it is picking up slowly and construction is expected to be completed by mid February.
