Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has been thanked for his intervention in diverting the hunger strike by the 11 Labasa Sangam College students and their parents in protest over the zero marks received in biology during their Fiji Seventh Form Examination.
One of the parents Rajesh Lal said they faxed their grievances to the Prime Minister who they believe has instructed the Acting Minister for Education Viliame Naupoto to step in.
Meanwhile, Form 7 student Nathaneal Lal said the Ministry of Education has no evidence that they copied and they will not take the option of re-sitting their paper.
Lal scored 69 in English, 88 in Maths, 82 in Physics and 80 in Chemistry.
He added on the day of the biology paper, none of the supervisors raised any concerns on how the examination was sat.
Earlier, permanent secretary for Education Dr Brij Lal said they had fully investigated the matter and stood by their decision to give zero to the 11 students.
