$1.3M allocated to rehabilitate West schools
$1.3 million is being allocated by government to rehabilitate schools in the Western Division.

Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki said that damages to schools have left more than 29,000 students affected.
 
Cawaki said that in Lautoka, Nadi and Yasawa 86 schools were either partially or completely destroyed.

He added these include 22 primary schools and six secondary schools in Nadi, in Lautoka 38 primary and eight secondary schools while for Yasawa there were 11 primary and one secondary school.

Meanwhile, he said the timeline for contractors to complete works is essential with minor repairs to be finished by the 20th of January and major repairs by the 30th of January.
