More than 1,000 registrations identified as suspicious
More than 1,000 registrations have been identified by government as suspicious registrations.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said from the 488,000 people registered to vote, they found that there were 1,300 suspicious registrations.

Sayed-Khaiyum said in a particular case, a person was found to have registered 10 times by wearing different shirts while visiting the centers.

According to Sayed-Khaiyum, the system managed to pick this up at a particular registration center and also at others which they have cleaned up.

He added that their main objective is to try and get everyone registered to vote.

Meanwhile, voter registration centers in the urban areas will reopen this Saturday till the 7th of next month whilst centers in the rural areas reopen on the 26th of this month and will close two weeks later.
