The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is trying to recover wrecks that have been identified within the Suva Harbor.
MSAF CEO Neale Slack said with the current maritime transport decree and ship registration decree they are finding it difficult to recover these wrecks.
Slack said they are currently pushing for a re-look of the current decree to be able to allow the MSAF Chief Executive Officer to have the full power to recover as many destroyed ships and take the appropriate action.
Fijivillage has established that there are 17 wrecks in the Suva Harbor which Slack said that it's not a matter of numbers as 1 wreck is a wreck too many.
