Students coming out of the secondary school system will now be able to have some vocational knowledge.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Education Ministry and the Fiji National University this morning to have mainstream vocational classes in schools around the country.
According to FNU National Training and Productivity Center director Kamlesh Prakash, this MOU will provide basic employment skills training to the students of Form Five, Six and Form Seven.
Meanwhile, Education Ministry permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal said they are sponsoring part of the fees for this program where they will pay $55 for each student per course while the student will have to pay $15.
He added they are trying to make the program compulsory so that every student has some kind of skill on technical and vocational areas when they are out of the school system.
62 schools are currently part of the program and by 2014 they will cover all the schools.
