Alleged rapist released on bail

A 37-year-old caretaker of Samabula charged with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old student has been released on $1000 bail today by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Iowane Senilolokula charged with eight counts of rape has been ordered to report to the Valelevu Police Station every day.

The case has been transferred to the High Court.

The incident allegedly occurred in April this year at a school hostel in Suva.

It is alleged the student was raped on eight different occasions by the caretaker who also resides at the school.

The case will be called again on the 18th of January next year.
