FRU to start refunding lottery ticket money from next Monday
The Fiji rugby union will start refunding ticket holders from the rugby world cup lottery in 2011 from next Monday but there are conditions for the refunds.

FRU confirmed that they will refund the money to those who bought the tickets at $10 and $15, only if they have their tickets with them but there will be a redraw for those who bought the ticket at $20 ticket.

Fijivillage asked what about those who have lost their tickets as it's been two years now but FRU said all claimants are to present their tickets as proof of purchase at Rugby House to qualify for a full refund.

After the initial draw in 2010, golfer Olaf Allen was declared the winner.

Allen said it's been two years now but the matter is with his lawyers.

Meanwhile from the audited accounts of the Fiji Rugby Union for 2010 shows that the World Cup lottery did not work out well for the union as it recorded huge losses.

The total income from the lottery was $314,852 while the expenses amounted to $535,418.

The total prize money of $300,000 almost covered the total income.

The total loss from the lottery stands at $220,000.

In 2011 the Commerce Commission had investigated and stopped the whole process based on how the lottery was conducted by the Fiji Rugby Union.
