Govt pay rise effective today
From today all established staff in the civil service will receive a minimum salary of $10,000 a year. 

As announced by the Prime Minister in the 2013 budget, this pay rise will benefit 1,663 civil servants.

Also all unestablished Government wage earners will receive a 10% pay rise, also effective from today. 

This pay rise will benefit 2,878 government wage earners.

Meanwhile, a 3% pay rise comes into effect today for the staff of Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited.

The Public Rental Board (PRB) has also announced substantial pay rises for its 44 non-management staff following approval by the Prime Minister. 
 
Meanwhile, the income Tax Threshold has been increased from $15,600 to $16,000 for this year.

The increase and decrease in duties and taxes announced in the 2013 budget is already in effect.
